The electric Bentley Incense GT, luxury for the future

Bentleys of the future will have a very different look from the one’s we see the rich and fabulous driving around in today and will sure be a lot greener too. The super-luxury cars we see today are plain gas-guzzlers, who drink up as much as their owners can afford. But this might just not be the case in the future! We just stumbled across this design for a Bentley, the Bentley Incense GT. Now this one sure doesn’t give out any smoke, despite its name, instead choosing to keep its act and drive a lot more environment friendly, using and electric motor. The car looks like a vehicle a superhero would probably choose to drive! Inspired by designing from the past with an added touch of the future, the Bentley Incense GT design uses those good old closed-cap rear wheels. A car like this might just show up far away in 2030 though, so you’ll just have to wait and drool at these images for the next two decades.

Sandia, Stirling Energy Systems Set New World Record

On a perfect New Mexico winter day — with the sky almost 10 percent brighter than usual — Sandia National Laboratories and Stirling Energy Systems (SES) set a new solar-to-grid system conversion efficiency record by achieving a 31.25 percent net efficiency rate. The old 1984 record of 29.4 percent was toppled on SES’s “Serial #3” solar dish Stirling system at Sandia’s National Solar Thermal Test Facility.
The conversion efficiency is calculated by measuring the net energy delivered to the grid and dividing it by thesolar energy hitting the dish mirrors. Auxiliary loads, such as water pumps, computers and tracking motors, are accounted for in the net power measurement.
Each dish unit consists of 82 mirrors formed in a dish shape to focus the light to an intense beam onto a receiver, which transmits the heat energy to a Stirling engine. The engine is a sealed system filled with hydrogen. As the gas heats and cools, its pressure rises and falls. The change in pressure drives the pistons inside the engine, producing mechanical power, which in turn drives a generator and makes electricity.

Solar energy Circuit in Abu Dhabi

Suntech Power Holdings Co., Ltd. (NYSE: STP), the world's largest crystalline silicon photovoltaic module manufacturer, announced its selection by Aldar Properties PJSC to supply over 1,120 solar panels for a 292 kW solar system for The Shams Tower, an iconic building on Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. The Abu Dhabi based solar power system integrator, Enviromena, will design and install the solar system and Aldar,Abu Dhabi's leading property development, management and investment company will develop the project.
The 2500 sq meter building with the integrated solar array on the 60-metre high Shams Tower, will provide shade for the car park underneath and simultaneously produce 450 megawatt hours of clean, solar electricity annually. Power generated will certainly offset electricity needs during motorsports events, and also power the Yas Marina Circuit facility for decades, saving 400 tons of greenhouse gases annually.
While talking about this massive project, Sami Khoreibi, President and CEO of Enviromena said,

World’s Largest Solar Stadium

No one has ever attempted to power an entire stadium with solar energy before, but Japan-based Toyo Ito Architects are using solar energy beyond all conventions to power the main stadium built for the World Games. The $150 million stadium can house 55,000 spectators and can power 80% of the surrounding neighborhood if it‘s solar array is connected to the grid during days when the stadium is not being used. Every inch of the stadium’s incredible 14,155-sq-m roof area is covered with 8,844 solar panels that could potentially generate a whopping 1.14GWh of electricity annually. The record braking stadium is touted to be the world’s largest solar-powered stadium

2022 Soccer world cup with the solar powered Lusail Iconic Stadium

Just when you though that the soccer world cup was history, its back making waves again. As Qatar gets ready to bring the frenzy to home turf in 2022, they have thought far off to ensure green and architecturally advanced designs for the world to savor. The energy efficient world-class football stadium called the Lusail Iconic Stadium is being developed with the help of Foster and Partners. Keeping in mind the extremely arid condition of the Middle East, the stadium will powered using solar energy. However the stadium with a seating capacity of 86,000 will be cool and will generate additional power from the parking lot canopies

Future Medical Technology

To expand upon future medical technology involving nanobots, this microscopic robots will not only deliver medicine and cut out unwanted cells, but they will do so precisely, automatically and thoughtfully. Just like robotic surgical machines will have access to large medical databases and make decisions on the fly more accurately than humans, medical nanobots a few years after this will be afforded the same empowerment.
At first, the future medical nanobots will take wireless instructions from a "thinking" computer host outside of the patient's body. But, as the medical nanorobotics field grows and chips and hard drive further downsized, then swarms of nanobots can be release into a human body, load sharing information and working as a team to cure illnesses, conditions and diseases.

Future City

Many people are wondering what the future city will look like. If I were to look into my crystal ball, what I would see is that future cities will be clean, green and full of optimism and hope.
The city of the future will be cleaner and greener because of solar and hydrogen energy. Elevated hydrogen trains (Hyrail) will be powered by solar energy that electrolyzes water for fuel cells. This electricity will power MagLev Hyrail trains.
Also running through future cities will be, at ground level, hydrogen fuel cell trains (or Hydrail). While Hyrail will most typically be passenger trains, hauling people around the future cities, Hydrail will be using the power of hydrogen fuel cells to haul cargo inside and outside of town.
The future cities of America and elsewhere will also be heavily equipped with solar panels. There will be photovoltaic panels on the rooftops on almost every building and the windows of each building will double as solar panels as well.
And, of course what would a future city be without a future car for every driver? These future cars will run on hydrogen, electricity, biofuels and even air. There may even be a few future flying cars that sail above traffic during rush hour. Thing Jetson or Flux Capacitor, then think again. Prototypes are here now.

Dattos - The Body as Information Platform

The Body as Information Platform

The concept of the Dattoo arose in response to current trends towards increasing connectivity and technology as self-expression. To realize a state of constant, seamless connectivity and computability required the convergence of technology and self. The body would need to literally become the interface. Computers and communication devices require physical space, surfaces, and energy. The idea of DNA tattoos (Dattoos) is to use the body itself as hardware and interaction platform, through the use of minimally-invasive, recyclable materials.

The Self Within Society

To achieve absolute personal identification, the hardware would capture DNA from the user's body, enabling direct participation in the political and cultural landscape.

Solar Rucksack

The solar rucksack is an innovative backpack concept that has been designed to keep the bodily warmth of users in icy conditions, especially for those who love to climb on mountains peaks or treks or works in polar states. The outer surface of the backpack features solar panels that collect solar energy from the sun and converts it to thermal energy. To distribute the generated heat evenly to the user’s body, a circular patch has been utilized on the clothing that remains attached with the backpack via a connecting pipe. Aside from its ultimate functionality, the stylish design of the backpack aims to enhance the user’s aesthetic than other usual backpacks.

Solar Powered Boats - clean and efficient

Solar powered boats get their energy from the sun.  Using electric motors and storage batteries charged by solar panels and photovoltic cell solar powered boats can significantly reduce or eliminate their use of fossil fule  Solar boats are uniquely suited to transform light energy into movement. Environmentally friendly solar energy is an energy efficient way to power commercial oceangoing vessels as well as leisure boats

Toyota Developing Solar Powered Car

Toyota Motor is developing a vehicle that will be powered solely by solar energy in an effort to turn around its struggling business with a futuristic ecological car, a top Japanese business daily reported.
The Nikkei newspaper, however, said it will be years before the planned vehicle will be available on the market. Toyota’s offices were closed Thursday and officials were not immediately available for comment.
Toyota is working on an electric vehicle that will get power from solar cells equipped on the vehicle, and that can be recharged with electricity generated from solar panels on the roofs of homes. The automaker later hopes to develop a model totally powered by solar cells on the vehicle.
